Vacation or Staycation?

The Author has just returned from holiday. It lasted an hour, she swam in the sea, and Himself enjoyed time fishing, the evening sun was warm, and the time of day was passed with other holidaymakers.

Where do you love to spend your holidays? Maybe a tropical island with white sands or enjoying the bright, bustling activity of a theme park?

But have you thought about staying at home to enjoy a Staycation?

How uninteresting The Author hears you say. Maybe you are right.

If I tell you that The Author lives in beautiful South Devon, would that change your mind?

Seven years ago The Author and Himself upped sticks and moved from The Midlands (about as far from the sea as you can be in the UK) to Brixham, a delightful seaside town on the South Devon coast and summer months, living by the sea was just like being on a permanent holiday.

Over the years ‘Her Outdoors’ came into The Author's life, with Himself spending more on his other woman than he does on The Author.

Does she feel jealous of this mistress of the sea? Never.

‘Her Outdoors’ transports The Author and Himself on our many 'stay at home holidays'. Stunning coastlines are explored, playful dolphins and cheeky seals observed, fresh fish is caught for tea and often The Author and Himself are intrigued strange and unusual sea creatures. The Author swims to hidden coves, and after each holiday break, there is time to relax in a comfortable, not far from the seaside, home.

Is a staycation is as good a holiday abroad?

The Author lives where the scent of the sea is in the air, and the skies are Almafi coast blue. The desire to travel to foreign lands soon disappears when you live in a beautiful part of the country. The Author wouldn't have it any other way.

Perhaps you should think again. Where do you love to spend your holidays?
